When J.R. mentions that Cena picking up someone the size of the Big Show, Viscera, etc etc and giving them the FU is amazing after getting beat on for 95% of the match. This is what I think of...

Cena comes across a lot better as a believeable wrestler when he's a heel.
I'll do you one better. Cena came across even moreso when he was "The Prototype".

I also agree I liked Cena better as a heel, even liked him better as a face on SD before he jumped to RAW. He has become stale with his work in the ring and on the mic. I'm glad they gave Edge the belt when they needed to take it off RVD but it sucks that cena will probably win it back at Summer Slam. I have started to like Edge more ever since he beat Cena earlier in the year. I think Edge is the best heel the WWE has right now.

The promos that Edge cut last night was good at best. The promo Cena cut was just god awful terrible...although the "CBI" was probably the only good part of it all.

i was watching ring of honor's "how we roll" (the one night christian cage appearence) and he called bryan danielson "john cena with aids". christian is no slouch on the mic himself.

Yeah...Christian has some snappy comebacks. He's definetly gold on the mic.

yes Christian can be really good on the mic especially when he is a heel. Is aw him in Cleveland for ROH a couple weeks ago and he and Christopher Daniels were great on the mic telling the crowd how they are marks for each other, they did a 5 second pose together, great stuff. The only thing is Bryan Danielson can wrestle rings around Cena.

Anybody can wrestle rings around Cena. Even Zach Gowen could wrestle rings around him.

I know we discussed this either in another forum or up on "tha" website, but Cena just comes across more believeable as a character when he's a heel.

It's weird Cena was LOVED by the fans as a heal, and HATED by the fans as a face, I don't know whats what anymore. There was a transition period when he first became face when the fans loved him, kind of the same deal that Carlito is enjoying now.
I think where they went wrong was that they pushed him to the title from that immediate popularity, dropped some of the things that had made him successful (the rapping, some of his catchphrases, a bevy of moves) and said, you fans seem to like this overnight sensation how about we make him your champion?
What would have been better would be a more gradual rise to the top and stick tight with what works -- a few catchphrases which can be expanded over time (like the Rock) and have him give expletive laden raps at his opponents. I know he's not the best rapper, but let's face it, it was interesting and different.
Also NO ONE likes someone so unbelievably all powerful that no one can present a legit challenge. A back/forth match every once-in-a-while would be WAAY better than the usual, Im getting my arse kicked for 4 minutes of a 5 minute scheduled match, better hit 3 moves then win.
Thats why this Edge/Cena rivalry works. Edge's in ring psychology almost forces Cena into a different match style, and the fact that Cena can and will lose to the man makes it seem more legit.
(Oh and putting him over at the expense of Christian and Chris Jericho, both guys who deserved more and had been with the company for YEARS, didn't help)
